Add a newsletter signup with beehiiv

Add a Newsletter block to your Frddy page and every person who signs up is added straight to your beehiiv publication — no exports, no copy-paste.

Takes about three minutes. You'll need two things from beehiiv: your publication ID and an API key.

What you'll need

  • A Frddy page you can edit.
  • A beehiiv account with a publication. If you don't have one yet, create it at beehiiv.com.
  • Admin access in beehiiv — API keys live under workspace settings.

Find your beehiiv publication ID

  1. Log in to beehiiv.
  2. Go to Settings → Publication → General (under Publication Settings).
  3. Copy the Publication ID. It starts with pub_ followed by a long string.

If you run several publications, make sure you're in the right one — the publication switcher is at the top of the beehiiv sidebar. Subscribers go to whichever publication the ID belongs to.

Create a beehiiv API key

  1. Still in beehiiv, go to Settings → API under Workspace Settings.
  2. Click Create New API Key and give it a name like "Frddy".
  3. Copy the key immediately and keep it somewhere safe — beehiiv won't show it again after you leave the page. You may be asked to verify your identity first.

Treat the API key like a password. If it's ever exposed, delete it in beehiiv and create a new one, then paste the new key into Frddy.

Add the Newsletter block in Frddy

  1. Open your page in the Frddy editor.
  2. Add a Newsletter block.
  3. Choose Beehiiv as the provider.
  4. Paste your publication ID (pub_…) into the first field and your API key into the second.
  5. Click Test connection. A green confirmation means Frddy can reach your publication.
  6. Save and publish your page.

Both values are required — beehiiv needs the publication ID to know where subscribers belong and the API key to authorise the request.

Test a real signup

  1. Open your live Frddy page and enter your own email in the newsletter block.
  2. In beehiiv, go to Audience → Subscribers and look for the address you just used.
  3. It should appear within a few seconds.

Tip: if you have double opt-in enabled in beehiiv, the subscriber shows as pending until they confirm via email. That's expected.

Troubleshooting

Test connection fails.
  • Check the publication ID starts with pub_ and has no spaces or line breaks.
  • Re-copy the API key — partial copies are the most common cause.
  • Make sure the key hasn't been deleted or regenerated in beehiiv.
Signups aren't showing in beehiiv.
Confirm you saved and published the page after connecting, and that you're checking the same publication the ID belongs to. With double opt-in on, new subscribers sit in a pending state until they confirm.
I lost my API key.
beehiiv only shows a key once. Create a new key in Settings → API, paste it into the Newsletter block, and delete the old one.

Where your keys live

Your beehiiv API key is stored securely and only ever used to send new subscribers to your publication. You can remove or replace it at any time from the Newsletter block.
